I heard that Tahoe is packed, I would suggest as early as possible, meaning 8am. I would set up to the left of the hut and boat ramp
If the question is where is the best place to stay? My opinion is it depends on you and who all is going. We stated at Harrah's Lake Tahoe. There are lots and lots of options.
It's not far at all, the parking lot is against the beach, I'd say 100 meters is a worst case distance, depending on how close of a spot you find, they do also have handicap parking
NO. No pets permitted. If U do decide to go, get there early, it's very popular & fills to capacity every day.
Sand harbor only has limited parking available. Once the lot fills up they shut down parking at the park until about 3 pm. You can use the east shore express to get in. Park in incline village and take the bus over to the park.
Actually if you read park rules and regulations your not suppose to take anything from the park.
Yes they have a picnic area.

Such a Beautiful place to experience nature, the water and beaches are so clean, must experience it for yourself.
The most gorgeous beach in Tahoe! There is a short boardwalk/nature trail that is fun to see and also a restaurant nearby with great drinks.
Great beach, it's open to the public, if you walk the trail you can get more space away from all the families and noise and see some gorgeous views.
There is an awesome little pathway and a large boulder you can jump from. The water is crystal clear and the scenery is unlike anything else.
An excellent beach. Sandy with some big boulders to climb on in some areas. Just get there early if you want to get in before it fills up. It's busy.
$10 entry/parking lot fee, the day we went had perfect weather with kayak and paddleboard rental available ($25/hr I think?) Hard to find parking and there were lots of people not social distancing/wearing masks. The beach was kept pretty clean with very little litter. I'd consider going here over other lake tahoe beaches.
Visited Sand Harbor for the first time today and not only did we have a blast enjoying a walk and the beautiful views, but we also met one of the park employees Esmerelda who went out of her way to show us the best way around. Such a doll!
Very nice. Good distancing. Sun hot, water cold.
Sand Harbor and all the stops getting to it are stunning. I road my bicycle from Incline area on the easy to moderate paved path. Enjoy!!
Beautiful park and lake. Well kept and clean. The restaraunt has really good food. Get here early to get a parking spot. It fills up quick. I kayaked half day and spent a few more hours on the beach swimming.
Lovely place, but it is very difficult to park there. Parking lot opens at 8am and it is already full and closed around 9am. There is long line on the highway before opening. It is managed by police and rangers. So the issue is to arrive at the "right" time, not too late, but not too early because there is no space along the road to wait in line. Cash payment only - 10$ per car, no pets allowed. However you can pay by card once you get the beach for snacks, lunch, cocktails etc.
I'm mean, I'm not really sure what words will suffice to explain the beauty of lake Tahoe... Just look at the pictures and you'll know. John Muir said going to the mountains is going home...
Get there EARLY in the summer and on the weekend. We were in line at the gate just after 8 am and were one of the last cars in. Bring goggles. The water is so clear. Jumping off the rocks at the adjacent beach was a blast as well. The water gets pretty choppy in the afternoon with the wind but the mornings are almost guaranteed perfect paddleboard smooth.
Love this place. I've been going since I was a kid and now I take mine there and she loves it as much as I still do! Although it can be really busy in the summer and get very crowded on the beach. Pl
Beautiful Sandy Beach. Awesome walkway. Crowded. Urban. Rules. Regulations. Park Rangers.
This is the most beautiful and tranquil place to visit. Families lining the beach ⛱ with the choice of paddleboating, kayaking and hiking along the beach trail. Not too far there is jet skiing. Fantastic getaway for sure.
Sand Harbor is one of the greatest places at Tahoe. The beach is great in the summer. My kids love exploring and playing on the huge rocks. It's pretty slammed most summer days, so you'll need to get there early to get a parking spot. It's excellent for an all-day outing. It's a good idea to bring some shade (a canopy or umbrella) and food if you plan on being there a while. Even in the winter this is a great place.
Another beautiful view with summer activity is good here Good place to spend time with family for long time
Very clean and awesome. If you are a thrill seeker than there are rocks that you can jump off of into the lake. They are completely safe except for a few which require a few people as it is sometimes difficult for some people to get to certain rocks. But overall sand harbor is a great place
This place is hands down the most beautiful lake I've ever been to. It is so clear & clean. No slimey lake bottom on your feet. This little squirrel broke into our food while we were paddle boarding. Lol. He ate 2 bags of chips & made a mess of our towels, but he was so cute... Couldn't be mad at him for taking advantage of the situation. If you want to rent a paddle board or kayak, highly recommended you make a reservation the day before. They go fast.
Beautiful beach with lots of space! Water is also calm but warm enough to swim.
Sand harbor is a great beach to go to! Just need to get there early in order to get a spot. If you have the means it's better to go by boat and anchor off the shore and swim in that cove very nice.
Very clear water, a little cold. But better than 100b degrees in the valley
Clear water soft sand and plenty of places to hang out. Has a great view and wonderful place to take photos!
White sandy beach. Crystal clear water. A lot of room to setup camp and parking was easy to find. Last but not the least I have to commend the park workers on a wonderful job keeping the restrooms clean and tidy. No graffiti either!
Sand Harbor is beautiful, has good parking, and is a well cared for place. However, the main building/restaurant, etc. is closed; probably do to Covid-19 issues. The shoreline was very crowded that day.
Wasn't a lot of pathway and it was full of rocks. Wasn't really a lake from over there. Great views thought.
Busy but plenty of beach to spread out. Public bathrooms and parking are close to the beach. Beautiful Lake Tahoe.
Wow this place has changed in 20 years. We have not been here in over 10 years there if a restaurant there and a walking trail. The beach is still do clean and beautiful.
Good place to have a walk in the middle of the nature. Its hard to find a spot to park on the winter because the parking down the road is closed. So we parked on the road.Gotta be careful going down depending on the staircase you chose.A lot of options and lake vista points on the way.
Beautiful beach with awesome sand! Clear Lake Tahoe water. I definitely recommend this place to all my friends and family to visit.
Absolutely gorgeous, cost $10 to get in and park. Lots of cool rocks to climb around on. Seen many kids and families playing in the water.have a huge gazebo that you can reserve with about 12 picnic tables surrounding a grill and on outdoor sink. Great for family reunions and birthdays, plan on staying the while day if you go. There is also a nice paved walking/ bicycling trail that runs a long the lake.
Clear waters, nice boardwalk, plenty birds and squirrels that aren't afraid of people. Good place to go and unwind....
Lots of good rocks and very scenic not much parking on some days
A little crowded for my liking and the first 12ft is super rough sand and rocks so keep that in mind if you have sensitive feet or are gonna bring little ones. The sand gets softer After the 12 ft but then it's about 4feet deep. BJT over all a very fun day!
The second I walked to this harbor, I exhaled. It is incredibly beautiful. The water is clear and so aqua blue. There weren’t many crowds, especially since I went early evening. It was pretty warm but being near the water, it didn’t matter. There were so many pockets to explore, lots of climbing on rocks of you desire and lots of areas to jump in. There’s a place to rent kayaks or paddle boards. Truly a magical and enjoyable place with many wonderful 360 views. Will definitely be coming back.
Sand Harbor is home to many of my best memories! It's awesome for jumping off rocks when the lake is high enough. It's safe and not too crowded especially because of covid and there is enough space so you can distance yourself from others.
Clean beach and the sand is a lot softer than some of the other beaches. Get there early because it fills up quick. I recommend getting there by 8am.
I loved this place. Unfortunately, some people felt it was okay to smoke weed and drink alcohol from glass bottles. People, leave that at home so the park stays clean and safe for everyone.
One of the best beaches, but it will cost you ten dollars to park here. Well worth it for a beautiful view and clean bathrooms. Very kid friendly. Come for a few hours or the whole day! Bring sunscreen and some shade.
It's beautiful! We got there at 6 am and there were about 15 cars in line so be prepared to wait 2hrs before the gate opens! HAVE CASH TO PARK! $10 and no pets allowed. S family had to leave because they had their dog. 😔
We went in the early evening, about 530pm. Parking was easy to find. There was not a ton of people, which was nice. Only bad thing was that there was quite a bit of trash on the beach-mostly smaller sized litter(straws, baby wipes, cigarette butts, etc).
Such a clean beach with tons of stuff to do. When me and my family go to this beach we always have a good time. It is suggested that you plan lots of time to go here because time littrely goes so fast here.
Very nice location for swimming or other aquatic activities. Nice facilities including cafe, kayak rentals and accessible via public transit
Be in line by 7am if you expect to get in. But be warned the beaches are PACKED and people will place their tents/chairs all around you blocking your view of the beach. A family of 15 set up next to us, their kids kicking sand as they stomped through and blasting “what does the fox say” ....opposite of relaxing ! It’s beautiful, but unless you don’t mind the crowds and the waiting it’s just not worth it. There are better spots farther north.
This was our favorite spot during our Tahoe visit. You NEED to get in line early if you want to get in in the morning. I suggest getting there at 7:15. Gate opens at 8am. If you dont need to be there early, you can probably get a spot later in the afternoon. But the location is so beautiful!! There was also a restaurant/bar which was convenient.
Walked 3 miles on the path today with my $2 entry only to have it closed even though the sign was not flashing on the path showing it to be closed. Love the beach, not fond of the employees. They are not compassionate at all. I've had a few incidents so far. Hoping they will improve.
Amazing place to go for the day! Lots of safe life guarded swimming, with crystal clear water and beautiful views. You do need to get there early if you want to get in however, as it fills quickly.
Tip... Kayaks can use the boat launch, which opens at 6:00 AM (two hours before the public access...). Stick a kayak on your car, get in early, and get the best spots at this beautiful, but very crowded beach area.
Great small beach. There is a boat launching area. Can get busy. Come early.
